Bishop of Shyogwe

The Bishop of Shyogwe Diocese Jered Kalimba, travels between Shyogwe and Strasbourg where his wife and family live. They left Rwanda during the troubles when their lives were threatened.

The Diocesan President is Perpetue Kalimba.

However, Perpetue has been very ill due to the things she experienced and witnessed at the time of the genocide in Rwanda so Deputy President, Angelique Kabango has taken over this role. Please pray for Bishop Jered and Perpetue in this difficult situation.

Mothers Union Worker

The Mothers' Union worker, Emilienne Akimpaye, is a seemingly tireless lady. She has four children of her own and, in addition, cares for four orphans. This is the usual pattern now in Rwanda as family sizes have doubled since the killings.

Many young children are cared for by teenagers, themselves orphans.

The government is working closely with the church in the reconciliation process and many wonderful stories are emerging of forgiveness.
