Members from Pendle joined 4000 Mothers' Union
Members at the Portman Road Football Stadium, Ipswich for this service of
welcome and celebration prior to the Mothers' Union Annual General
Meeting.
The size of the venue created an atmosphere of
celebration and expectation, large screens ensured that everyone could
see what was happening on the central stage. The Hazel wood Dancers,
Cantate Youth Choir and St Edmundbury Cathedral Choir all added to the
atmosphere of celebration.
The AGM was a 'fixture' of two 'halves' with 'team
talks' from Unit Co-ordinators from Mary Sumner House encouraging and
inspiring members in their work for MU.
In an interesting, 'action replay' Diane Louise Jordan
known for her role in 'Songs of Praise' hosted live interviews showing how
the Mothers' Union is working towards the Millennium Development Goal.
The 'final whistle' was an act of worship led by the Rt
Rev Richard Inwood, Bishop of Redford.
The members from Pendle who went along to this event are
full of praise for the inspiration they received from recognising that, we
are all working as part of a large and effective worldwide organisation.
Enquiries for next years AGM in Dublin are being made. Will you be there?
