Welcome to Garstang Deanery
-
a rural area where farming and other rural issues are central to our daily
lives.
|
Experiencing
the effects of the Foot and Mouth epidemic made us more aware of
the way in which crises and natural disasters affect the very heart
of communities and the importance of a realistic response in both giving
and prayer, at home and overseas. We were able to give monetary support as
a group, through the Addington Fund, and prayer and practical help in our
daily contacts through out branches.
Garstang
is a FairTrade Town and Great Eccleston has a Farmers' Market, both of
these helping us to support local, national and international initiatives
for a fairer distribution of trade.

Overseas
Child Sponsorship
Some
of our members are involved in a Child Sponsorship scheme, providing
school fees for the children of clergy and lay workers the new Diocese of
Kumi, in Uganda, which is our Deanery link, where, often there is no money
for salaries or even expenses for the clergy and lay workers.
Additionally we give ongoing support for our linked Dioceses of
The Free State, Shyogwe and Sekondi

Indoor Members Prayer Circle
The Garstang Deanery IMPC met in
June at the Pilling Memorial Hall. When
you consider the number of years of prayer and service represented
by the life of each member present we are sharing over 600 years of
lives lived for God - an inspiring thought!
