What
is AFIA?

|
The
Away from It All Holiday Scheme is a practical and important way to help
support family life. Each year the Mothers' Union in Blackburn Diocese
offer holidays to families under stress. 14 families were given a holiday
in the MU caravan on the Lancashire Coast |

How
is it funded? |
The
scheme is funded by members of the MU. This funding enabled 24 adults and
24 children to take a caravan holiday this year. During the last 5 years
122 adults and 153 children have benefited. |

Who
can have a holiday? |
The
scheme is open to anyone who is under stress, families, couples, and
individuals of any age who would benefit from a break they would not
otherwise be able to take. Applicants do not have to be a member of a
church or any organisation.

How
can you apply for a holiday? |
Applicants
must be referred for a holiday by a Mothers' Union member, a member of the
clergy, a parish worker or a Reader. |
|
|
Where
are the holidays? |
Holidays
are usually:
- at the Mothers Union caravan on the Lancashire Coast
- in self catering accommodation
- in rented caravans for larger families, or
- away-day breaks
The AFIA scheme tries to provide the most suitable
holiday possible to ensure all have a very enjoyable time. |
