LEYLAND
DEANERY FESTIVAL 2007
Rain did not
dampen our spirits as members from all over Leyland Deanery gathered for
our Festival at St Ambrose Church Leyland on Wednesday 9th May.
The guests
included Mrs Marian Whitehead, Diocesan President, Mrs Vivienne Goddard,
Honorary Vice- President, Mrs Beverley Laycock, Deputy President Blackburn
Archdeaconry and the Presiding Members of Chorley and Whalley Deaneries.
The service
included hymns and readings along with a reading for three voices entitled
“He taught me the meaning of love” set to background music from
Margaret Rizza.
The Venerable
John Hawley, Archdeacon of Blackburn who used one of the ‘buckets of
love’ as a visual aid, gave the sermon.
The Deanery
Chaplain Rev Richard Plant led prayers and the choir from St Ambrose
Church along with Mothers’ Union choir members led the singing of the
hymns and performed an anthem.
The collection
is to be donated to the AFIA and Overseas funds.
After the Branch
Banners were processed out of the Church we assembled in the Church Hall
for refreshments kindly prepared by the Members of St Ambrose Branch.
Our thanks go to
Enrolling Member Hilda Lindsay and her Branch for a successful and truly
memorable evening.
Jenny
Towers
Presiding Member
, Leyland
Deanery.
