| There were 46 of us ranging in age from 9 to
90 years - well it was for 'International Year of the Family' - including
our Diocesan President Marion Whitehead who had decided to come along and
join us.
We started off en masse, but soone spread out the more sprightly
leaving others behind, but as you looked along the Prom you could see MU
balloons bobbing around ahead of us and then later, coming back towards us
with the children who had been given them along the way.
Our plan was to stop and picnic along the way but cups
of tea and more comfortable seats at Holy Trinity were more inviting to
members.
It was amazing to find that some of our members had not
been on the Piers for years, so it was all new to them. Starting at the
North Pier, the 'sedate' one each pier got noisier and busier ending on
the South Pier with it's Fairground atmosphere. Marion, Eunice and I did
toy with the idea of doing the reverse Bungee Jump (shooting upwards) but
decided against it!!!
We were all eventually reunited at Holy trinity, tired
but happy, to have a cup of tea and a chat in true Mothers' Union
tradition. The total by 16th September was a fantastic £632 with more to
come.
