Rainbow Fair at St Wilfrid's Church
Australian Link in Blackpool Deanery Festival 2006
Held on the 24th March 2007 this was the last event of the dedicated 'Mothers' Union Week'.
We also had a Quiet afternoon at St Anne's Greenlands, a Quiz night at
St Paul's Marton and a Victorian Tea at St Christopher's.

Last year a member of St Stephen's Mothers ' Union saw an advertisement in the Spring edition of  Home and Family, from a branch in Australia. They were looking for a link Branch in the U.K.   This was replied to and during the course of the last year we have forged strong links and hopefully become friends.

We have exchanged photographs, service programmes, ideas, written bits about ourselves, and our families….. Phone calls at the New Year and e-mails in between…!!

We arranged for them to receive Home and Family, and we receive Mia Mia which is their equivalent.  Judith O Leary is their scribe.

Their branch is at Murray Bridge in the Diocese of The Murray.South Australia and has about 12 members apart from indoor members.   They also have the smallest cathedral in the  Southern Hemisphere.  The photo shows their Diocesan banner.

Each September they have an annual Stop-Over meeting at a guide camp site in the South of the state where they exchange  thoughts, and activities, and do their own catering,  Sounds like a lot of fun!!.

Deanery Pier Walk raises £632 - so far.On Saturday morning 14th August I looked out with trepidation, the skies were heavy with cloud but at least there was no wind. Why the concern? Read more..... There is a large picture to download so be patient! blackpoolpiers.jpg (119310 bytes) Copies of 'Home & Family' and MU leaflets were given to visitors over the weekend. Meeting members and non-members was great fun and generated a lot of interest in Mothers' Union in Blackpool and other areas.
