Celebrating the Centenary at St Paul's Hoddleson MU.

Our picture shows Margaret Eastham who has been a member for over 40 years, cutting the cake with Marion Whitehead our Diocesan President at the party celebrating 100 years of MU  at St. Paul’s Hoddlesden, in Blackburn with Darwen Deanery. The evening started with a presentation of a muscle man tie to Williams Jenkinson for all his help over the years. This was followed by a buffet supper and then entertainment provided by Donald Banks, Keith Mc Donald.

Mothers' Union Week

We had a busy time in Mothers' Union Member's week this year. The branches were involved in various activities which included Spring Lunch, Cheese and Wine Evenings, Coffee Mornings and a joint Songs of Praise which was held at St Marks at Witton.  Branches talked about their favourite hymn and everyone joined in the singing.

Most branches celebrated on Mothering Sunday and some enrolments were held.  Many children were given flowers to give to their Mothers as well as the Mothers' Union Bookmark which was given out at many Churches.

Finally Three Lady Day Services were held around the Deanery - the photograph shows the one in St Peters ' Darwen where members gathered around the altar to receive communion.  The service there was taken by Rev Andrew Holliday who is the new Deanery Chaplain for Blackburn with Darwen.

Happy Birthday Ma'am!

St. James M.U. Blackburn, held a party for the "Little Angels" to celebrate the Queen's 80th Birthday on Friday, 21st April.

The  Mother and toddler group meet in the Church lounge and range from "bump" to 5 years.  Jelly and Ice Cream was provided, as well as a cake.  Everyone enjoyed the do, with the older ones making their own "crown".
